CORE
KUALA LUMPUR • 2026
A considered framework shaped by lines, light, texture, and the rhythms of everyday life.
The Project
Core is a residential apartment in central Kuala Lumpur, designed with rental living in mind. The new developer-finished unit arrived with its kitchen, bathroom fittings and wardrobes already in place. The challenge was to build a cohesive interior around these elements. The remaining finishes, furnishings and styling needed to feel connected to what was already there.
The brief called for a warm and inviting home with broad appeal. It needed to feel comfortable and lived in, while remaining practical for a future tenant. Rather than replacing the existing elements, the design works with the original framework. New materials and finishes were carefully matched to the developer’s carpentry.
Wood-grained melamine forms much of the interior palette. It brings warmth and continuity across the spaces, while stone accents introduce contrast and definition. Together, these materials give the Core Residence interior its sense of warmth and continuity.
The apartment was approached as a complete interior rather than a collection of individual additions. Existing kitchen cabinetry and wardrobes established the starting point. Furniture, lighting and soft furnishings were then selected to work alongside them. The restrained palette keeps the interior cohesive, while decorative elements add texture and personality. The result is a home that feels settled and complete, while remaining practical for everyday rental living.
Mod Maison handled the project from interior design and renovation through interior styling and project management. The work brought together the existing finishes, new elements and furnishings into one cohesive home.
