the radius

A more personal home, softened by curves that return in unexpected ways.
The Project
The Radius began with an existing apartment and a clear brief: to create a home that felt more personal, refined and considered for a young family. The owners came to Mod Maison with references they had collected from other homes in the building. These references provided a starting point for developing something distinctly their own.
The previous owner had already altered and lived in the apartment, leaving several changes to the original space. There was also visible wear, along with finishes that no longer suited the new owners. The renovation became an opportunity to rethink the interior as a whole and bring greater consistency to the layout, materials and atmosphere.
A darker palette of wood grain, green stone and architectural wall details gives the home its depth. Rounded and radiused elements soften the stronger geometry of the space, appearing throughout the home in different forms. Together, these details create a recurring visual language that connects the different areas without making them feel overly uniform.
The design also considers how these elements work across the home. The darker materials create a stronger presence in some areas, while softer furnishings help balance the overall atmosphere. Curved details appear in the joinery, walls and furniture, creating subtle connections between spaces rather than repeating the same feature everywhere.
The result is an interior that feels distinctive without becoming overly decorative. The darker palette gives the apartment character, while the repeated curves and material choices create continuity from one space to the next. The design responds to the existing apartment rather than trying to erase what came before.
Mod Maison oversaw the project from space planning and material selection through custom carpentry, renovation, interior styling and project management. The result brings the existing apartment into a new design direction shaped around family living.
